What is a prop deflector
Prop Deflector (aka prop guard) is a unique stainless steel propeller deflector designed to protect the propeller without restricting the overall performance of the engine and craft at speed. Prop deflector is developed and manufactured by BH Fabrications in the UK.
The construction is produced with laser cut stainless steel parts and the custom range deflector bars are made from aerofoil shaped tube, which reduces drag and the possibility of damage to the structure. Yet, it still offers incredible strength.
Prop Deflector was originally developed for the flood rescue sector and proved very successful in use by the rescue services, before expanding into commercial, defence and leisure market. It has been tested in extreme conditions and proved incredibly robust.
The RNLI found that in test, a craft using our prop deflector achieving a speed of 30 knots lost less than 5% overall speed with no manoeuvrability issues.
The ranges
Each prop guard model is a tailored fit to the specific engine model. We also offer our customers with bespoke prop deflector solutions for special requirements.
Our PD range is designed to universally fit for any outboard with propeller diameter 10”, 12”, 14”, 16” and in-between. It is more robust than any other prop guard on the market but with maximum performance.
It is important to understand that every boat and motor combination is unique. Performance and compatibility can vary depending on the boat setup, driving style, and the specific requirements placed on the boat and engine.
Because of this, there may be cases where a prop deflector is not perfectly suited to your motor or intended use.
